DragonSword Awakening Cooking Recipes – Methods, Ingredients & Buffs

Updated 2026-07-27

How cooking recipes work

In DragonSword: Awakening, cooking combines gathered or purchased ingredients into dishes. The current released-build sources show three preparation methods:

  • Grilling
  • Boiling
  • Slice

The important practical rule is that the preparation method is part of the recipe. Using the right ingredients under the wrong method may not discover the dish you are trying to unlock.

This page focuses on the released game's recipe task. The broader Cooking, Equipment and Familiars overview remains the place for how those systems fit into the official game description.

Quick early recipe priorities

Do not try to fill the entire recipe catalogue before progressing. Start with dishes that solve an immediate player task:

  1. recovery food for ordinary combat and exploration mistakes;
  2. stamina recovery before long mount, climbing or diving routes;
  3. reduced stamina consumption before deep-water treasure routes;
  4. combat buffs only after confirming their exact effect and duration in the current UI.

A good early example is the two-food preparation used for the secret costume and hidden boss route: an egg-based stamina recovery dish plus a mixed rice bowl that reduces stamina use.

Recipe evidence table

The following entries are intentionally limited to recipes or structures supported by current released-build guides. Translated captions can mishear dish names, so use the English cooking screen as the final authority.

Grain Tealisted under Boilingearly recipe-catalogue entrycurrent third-party reference; verify buff and ingredient slot in game

This is not presented as a complete recipe database. A recipe should not be added merely because another wiki lists a name; the method, ingredients and effect must be reconciled with the released English UI.

How to discover a recipe safely

Use this process for every new dish:

  1. Open the cooking station and choose the intended method.
  2. Add the principal ingredient suggested by the dish or source.
  3. Inspect the preview for required ingredient categories or empty slots.
  4. Cook one test serving.
  5. Record the resulting English dish name, effect, duration and method.
  6. Repeat only after confirming that the result is useful.

Avoid spending an entire ingredient stack on an unconfirmed combination. Captions and community tables can confuse “natural food,” meat subtypes and similar-looking ingredient icons.

The egg stamina dish

The secret-costume route demonstrates discovering an egg-based dish with the Slice method. The translated transcript calls it “Egg Renewal,” but that name has not been independently matched to the released English UI.

What the source does support:

  • an egg is used to discover or prepare the dish;
  • the dish restores mount or Familiar stamina;
  • eggs can be gathered near the early city and river routes;
  • preparing several servings makes a failed dive less costly.

Do not confuse cooking eggs with the bird-egg collection objective described in the Mounts guide. An item can serve a cooking purpose without necessarily counting for a Familiar Collection condition.

The mixed rice bowl

The same route demonstrates a mixed bowl using:

  • meat;
  • fish;
  • rice;
  • the Slice method.

The dish is used before diving because its demonstrated effect reduces stamina consumption for a period of time.

Ingredient route

Meat: The source gathers poultry and discusses boar and other meat variants. It is uncertain whether a specific meat is required for the first discovery. Read the current ingredient-category preview.

Fish: Fish can be caught in water. The source favors groups of fish because one approach can produce several ingredients.

Rice: The route purchases rice from a city vendor near a cooking fire.

The video recommends making many servings. The required amount is not universal: collected mount bonuses, route accuracy and buff timing can reduce how much food you consume.

Grilling, Boiling and Slice

Grilling

Use Grilling when the recipe screen or released UI associates the dish with direct heat. Do not assume that every meat recipe belongs here; some mixed dishes in the current sources use Slice.

Boiling

Current recipe references place entries such as Grain Tea under Boiling. Verify the ingredient icons and the resulting effect before publishing or relying on a specific combination.

Slice

Slice is important early because current sources show it used for the egg stamina dish, the mixed rice bowl, Sashimi and Salad-style recipes. It is a preparation category, not simply “raw food,” so use the in-game result screen rather than interpreting the label literally.

How to judge whether a food is worth making

Before producing a stack, record:

  • what resource or stat it changes;
  • whether the effect is instant or timed;
  • whether it applies to the active hero, team, Familiar or mount;
  • whether the effect stacks with another dish;
  • how long the buff icon remains active;
  • whether the ingredients are renewable on your current route;
  • whether a cheaper dish solves the same problem.

The secret-costume source demonstrates using a timed stamina-cost reduction effect together with a separate recovery food. That supports two complementary food roles; it does not prove that every food buff stacks.

Gathering and vendor checklist

  • Mark egg, fish and meat routes while completing quests.
  • Check elevated areas and waterways rather than only the main road.
  • Record which vendor sells rice and whether stock refreshes.
  • Keep one serving after discovery so the effect can be checked later.
  • Reconfirm recipe names and values after a patch.
  • Do not treat a caption-only number as an official coefficient.

Use the Map & Exploration Hub for Waypoints, gathering routes and treasure tasks.

What is still missing from this recipe guide?

A trustworthy complete table still requires released English-UI verification for every recipe:

  • exact dish name;
  • exact ingredient categories and quantities;
  • preparation method;
  • effect and duration;
  • discovery condition;
  • vendor or gathering source;
  • current patch.

Until that matrix is collected, this article deliberately prioritizes reproducible early dishes and a verification method over padding the page with guessed combinations.

Evidence boundary

The Steam store officially confirms cooking by combining ingredients found across the continent. Specific methods, ingredients and route uses come from current third-party released-build guides. Their videos are evidence of what the creator demonstrated, not an official promise that every value and name remains unchanged.
