DragonSword Awakening Reina Build – Combos, Gear, Karma & Teams
Updated 2026-07-26
Release-build record: Browse the Reina character record for the official faction and mobility-role fields. This article owns the hero-specific build task; the Gear and Karma guide keeps the cross-character system framework.
Reina build: the short answer
Reina is a high-mobility aerial character whose released-build guides emphasize:
- frequent jump and dodge cancels;
- long airborne strings and midair repositioning;
- Critical Hit Chance and airborne-condition damage;
- Gale-related Gear or Karma traits where the current item text supports them;
- Awakening and Master Skill effects that improve her aerial loop;
- a team partner that can hand a compatible Status Ailment into her follow-up.
Two substantial launch-week videos independently converge on the same broad build identity. Their exact item names and numerical recommendations are creator observations, not an official Hound13 best-in-slot chart.
Who is Reina?
Official developer material introduces Reina as the captain of the Orbis Royal Castle 8th Knight Order, specializing in reconnaissance, guerrilla warfare and superior mobility. That official role now has released-build context: current creator demonstrations show a character built around aerial control, movement and repeated skill transitions.
The official profile establishes her identity. The release-build videos establish how those creators used her. Keep the distinction clear when evaluating a patch-sensitive build.
Core combo rules
Light attack into jump cancel
The long-form guide demonstrates cancelling parts of Reina's light-attack sequence with a jump, then continuing with an aerial attack. The practical use is to launch or follow an already airborne enemy without completing a slower grounded string.
Test this in the current build:
- start the light string;
- jump at the chosen hit;
- continue with aerial light attacks;
- dodge or use an active skill before losing height;
- return to the ground only when the rotation or enemy state demands it.
Cancel timing is execution-dependent. The video is evidence that the sequence was performed, not a frame-perfect universal input table.
Aerial attacks and midair dodge
The guide attributes a repeatable midair dodge to Reina's Master Skill and demonstrates alternating aerial attacks, skills and dodges to stay airborne for an extended period.
This matters for two tasks:
- maintaining an aerial damage condition during combat;
- recovering movement time during exploration after a Familiar loses stamina.
The second use is a player-discovered movement technique, not an official travel mechanic guarantee.
Dodge, sprint and jump transition
A creator also demonstrates a dodge-to-sprint-to-jump input used to cancel or redirect movement after a skill. Treat the exact timing as a practice technique. If the sequence stops working after an update, retest it before assuming controller failure.
Skill and status loop
The shorter build guide describes Reina's loop around Gale, Airborne, Tempest and a grab-style follow-up. The captions contain several skill-name spellings that may be imperfect, so use the current English skill screen as the authority.
The reliable planning structure is:
- apply the condition required by the active skill or tag follow-up;
- use the aerial or grab action while the enemy can be controlled;
- continue with Tempest or the available follow-up;
- refresh the condition instead of repeating an unavailable action;
- swap when another hero can extend the chain more reliably.
Boss resistance changes the value of control-heavy loops. A sequence that holds an ordinary enemy does not automatically stun-lock every world boss.
Gear stats for Reina
The current creator guides prioritize stats that support the demonstrated aerial loop:
- Critical Hit Chance;
- airborne additional damage or attack power;
- ordinary Attack when the piece also fits the set plan;
- Gale-related effects when Reina consistently activates them;
- enough Defense or survivability to avoid losing the rotation to one mistake.
Do not copy a screenshot without reading your current item text. Use the general 3+2 Gear set framework from the Gear and Karma guide, then apply Reina's hero-specific filters.
A practical 3+2 approach
One release-build guide combines an Attack-oriented set with a Gale-oriented set for an early Reina configuration. The exact named sets are caption-sensitive; the useful method is:
- activate a three-piece bonus that improves her core damage plan;
- add a different two-piece threshold that reinforces Gale or the aerial condition;
- prefer usable Crit and airborne substats;
- do not destroy the rest of your team's budget chasing one perfect roll.
A higher number on an item does not compensate for a set or condition Reina never uses.
Karma priorities
The creator sources recommend Karma with traits that match the same loop:
- Gale-related effect;
- Critical Hit Chance;
- airborne additional damage;
- active-skill or attack bonuses that remain active during the real rotation.
One captioned Karma name appears as “Become a Star in That Sky.” Treat that proper name as provisional until verified in the English UI. Search by the visible trait, not by a possibly mistranscribed title.
If you replace a Karma, record what changed in actual combat. A theoretical offensive card may underperform a mixed card if the latter keeps Reina alive and airborne.
Awakening priorities
Both release-build guides use Awakening text to infer intended stats or unlocks. The shorter guide places special value on a later Awakening breakpoint described in the captions as Knight of the Wind, which adds an Airborne interaction to the dodge attack.
Do not turn that observation into a universal account priority. Use this order:
- keep Reina in the fixed team only if you enjoy and can execute the aerial kit;
- inspect each Awakening node's current text;
- prioritize a breakpoint that changes the usable loop;
- compare the cost against the other two active heroes;
- stop before a small numerical node delays a required team handoff.
For cross-character resource choices, use the Awakening tier list and character investment priority.
Master Skill
The long-form guide demonstrates a Reina Master Skill that enables a midair dodge on a cooldown. The caption renders its name as “Still Flutter,” but that exact spelling needs in-game confirmation.
The functional question is more important than the name:
- Does the Master Skill add the aerial action used by your loop?
- Can you trigger it consistently?
- Does another active hero need the scarce unlock material first?
Use the Skill Upgrade & Master Skill guide once the team is already selected.
Team options
Johnny as a demonstrated partner
The RPJames guide pairs Reina with Johnny and describes a handoff involving Johnny's attack, a status condition and Reina's tag response. The captioned proper names—including “Phantom Slash”—need visible UI confirmation before being entered as verified database links.
Treat Johnny as a demonstrated creator pairing, not an official universally best partner. In your current team, verify that:
- the setup condition appears on the enemy;
- Reina's Signal or tag action becomes available;
- the sequence still works against the intended boss;
- the third slot adds healing, safety or another compatible condition.
Use the Teams Hub and Team Builder for relationships the database can currently support. Do not infer a verified Signal link from a caption alone.
Exploration movement
Reina's aerial attacks and midair dodge can extend movement after mount stamina is depleted in the demonstrated build. The creator uses this to remain above water or cover more distance before resummoning the Familiar.
This technique can complement the progression in the Mounts guide, but it is not a substitute for stamina food or underwater-dash upgrades on routes that demand them.
Common Reina build mistakes
- Copying exact item names from captions. Proper nouns are the least reliable part of automatic transcripts.
- Building only Crit while ignoring the activation condition. Airborne damage requires real airborne uptime.
- Assuming ordinary-enemy control works on every boss. Resistance and super armor change the loop.
- Funding Reina while both partners remain unfinished. She still belongs to a three-character system.
- Calling one creator's Johnny pairing officially verified. Reproduce the handoff and check the current UI.
- Treating movement tech as guaranteed forever. Cancel windows can change in patches.
Reina build checklist
- Confirm the current names and text of Reina's skills in the English UI.
- Practise light-to-jump and aerial-dodge timing.
- Activate a functional 3+2 Gear setup.
- Prioritize Crit and airborne-condition stats that actually trigger.
- Match Karma traits to Gale, Crit or the real aerial loop.
- Read Awakening nodes before committing scarce resources.
- Test Johnny or another partner against the intended content.
- Keep a defensive option if the rotation repeatedly breaks under pressure.
- Recheck the build after balance or skill-behavior patches.
Evidence boundary
Reina's faction, title and mobility role come from official developer material. Combo, movement, Gear, Karma, Awakening and team recommendations come from two third-party released-build videos. The videos show usable techniques and menus, but their captions contain probable misspellings for skill, Gear and Karma names. This guide therefore describes the demonstrated functions while marking exact proper nouns and coefficients for in-game confirmation.
