DragonSword Awakening Mods – Current Files, Installation & Patch Risks
Updated 2026-07-27
Are there DragonSword Awakening mods?
Yes. Search results currently expose a dedicated DragonSword: Awakening category on Nexus Mods and at least one indexed file-based mod page, Treasure Box respawn. That proves a public modding category and an individual project page exist; it does not prove that every file works on the current game patch or is safe to install.
This page owns the DragonSword Awakening mods task: modified game files, installation, removal and patch risk. Real-time memory editors, toggle menus and Xmod claims remain in the Trainer hub.
Current verified directory snapshot
As of July 27, 2026, the externally visible evidence supports this limited snapshot:
| Listing | What can be established | What is not established here |
|---|---|---|
| DragonSword: Awakening Nexus Mods category | the game has a public Nexus category | complete active file count, moderation status and compatibility of every upload |
| Treasure Box respawn | the author says unopened chests can respawn on a mining-like cycle or after relogging | current-patch reliability and whether it works without side effects on your setup |
The Nexus page may present a bot-verification challenge in an ordinary automated browser, but its current description was independently retrieved for this update. The project is listed as version 1, last updated July 23, 2026. Those listing facts do not prove compatibility with a later game patch.
Mods versus Trainers versus Cheat Engine
These searches overlap, but they are different player tasks.
File-based Mods
A Mod commonly changes or adds packaged game files, configuration or assets. It may remain active every time the game starts until removed.
Trainer or Xmod menu
A Trainer is a separate runtime tool that changes values while the game is running. See the Trainer functions guide.
Cheat Engine table
A Cheat Engine table is another memory-editing format. A search result or download title is not proof that addresses remain correct after a patch.
Do not install a Trainer by following a file-based Mod guide, and do not put unknown runtime executables into a game-content folder merely because both are called “mods” in casual discussion.
Before installing any Mod
- Check the game version. Compare the mod page's last update and supported patch with the current build shown by Steam.
- Read the complete description and posts. Look for current crash reports, dependencies, load order and removal notes.
- Inspect the archive before running anything. A content mod normally should not require an unrelated installer chain or browser extension.
- Back up saves and configuration. Use the save file and config backup guide.
- Keep a copy of the original folder state. Record every file added, replaced or renamed.
- Install one Mod at a time. Launch and test before adding another variable.
- Avoid co-op while testing unsupported changes. This site has not established what server-side checks or partner-visible effects apply to each mod.
No antivirus result, community endorsement or host reputation can guarantee safety. Treat each upload as third-party software or data.
Treasure Box respawn installation path
The current author description instructs users to place the packaged file under:
DragonSword Awakening\DS\Content\Paks\
It also says a manager subfolder such as mods or ~mods can be created. If the mod does not load, the author suggests adding _P to the file name, with DS_TreasureRespawn_P.pak as the example.
These are the author's installation instructions, not a site-tested procedure. Before copying the file:
- close the game and Steam's active game process;
- locate the actual installation through Steam's Browse local files action;
- back up the current save before changing chest behavior;
- copy only the downloaded
.pakfile into the documented folder; - record the exact added path and filename;
- start the game in a low-risk test state;
- verify the intended chest behavior before continuing normal progression;
- remove the file immediately if the result differs from the description.
How to uninstall cleanly
Removal is easiest when you recorded the installation manifest.
- delete only the files introduced by the Mod;
- restore replaced originals from your backup;
- use Steam's Verify integrity of game files after removal;
- recheck configuration and save timestamps;
- launch without other Mods before diagnosing a persistent crash.
File verification can restore official files, but it does not automatically remove every additional file. That is why a path manifest matters.
Patch compatibility
A game update can invalidate Mods even when the game still launches. Watch for:
- startup crashes;
- endless loading;
- missing assets;
- altered chest, quest or reward behavior;
- save data that behaves differently after removing the Mod;
- a project page that still references an older executable or content version.
Disable file-based Mods before applying a major patch when practical. After updating, wait for the author to confirm support or reproduce the change in a disposable test state.
The Trainer patch compatibility guide explains a similar version-check discipline for runtime tools, but its function claims do not transfer to file Mods.
Treasure Box respawn: the important save warning
The author gives a specific progression warning: chests already opened before installing the mod may disappear from the current save. The page recommends backing up the save or starting a new one. It also says the map's chest percentage can reset after reloading because chests can respawn, while the chest-opening achievement count should remain recorded.
This is more important than a generic crash warning because it describes an intended change to persistent chest state. Before installation, verify on the live project page:
- current supported game version;
- exact file name and checksum supplied by the author, if any;
- required loader or folder;
- known conflicts;
- uninstall steps;
- recent user reports.
This site has not downloaded, executed or independently verified the mod and therefore does not label it working or safe.
Mod troubleshooting checklist
- Confirm the game launches with all Mods removed.
- Restore official files and verify them through Steam.
- Reinstall only one current Mod.
- Check that its dependencies match your build.
- Remove old versions rather than stacking them.
- Compare the crash point before and after installation.
- Preserve saves before testing chest, quest or progression changes.
- Report the exact game and Mod version when asking for help.
What this page will not provide
- mirrored third-party downloads;
- invented checksums;
- claims that a file is malware-free;
- instructions to bypass protections or affect other players;
- a promise that Mods are allowed in every game mode;
- a claim that a Nexus listing has been tested by this site.
The goal is to help players evaluate and reverse unsupported changes without blurring Mods into the Trainer download cluster.
