DragonSword Awakening Chapter 5: Fog Road, Rock Tribe and Reina Rescue

Updated 2026-07-28

Quick answer

When the DragonSword Awakening Chapter 5 fog road ends at a physical obstruction, do not search the whole forest for a second ground-level road. Look beside the blockage, climb the adjacent cliff, cross the upper route and drop back toward the cultist trail.

The full blocker sequence is:

  1. inspect the attacked northern site and speak with the survivor;
  2. follow the cultist and golem trail into the fog;
  3. climb beside the blocked road and continue over the upper path;
  4. keep searching when the first golem check shows no movement;
  5. enter the Rock Tribe position during the knights’ distraction;
  6. clear the required groups, inspect the prepared supplies and defeat the warrior blocking the exit;
  7. follow the apprentice to the rescue route;
  8. clear the active Orc and Skeleton groups and reach Reina;
  9. return immediately when the fortress warning becomes active;
  10. finish each marked defense group until the sequence reaches its aftermath.

The earlier ambush account mentions a Lich, but a separate Lich hunt is not required by the documented route. Do not search every side area for a caster after the active rescue path is clear.

This page owns the local Chapter 5 blockers. Use the Chapters 1–8 walkthrough for the full campaign order.

Chapter 5 has several moments where the first visible action is not the completion state. Use objective changes, conversations and route transitions rather than assuming one fight finishes the phase.

Start from the northern investigation

Chapter 5 grows out of the northern assignment that follows the Barrier Stone report and fortress transition. If you are still working through Karina, Bardok’s note or the Stone restoration, finish the Chapter 4 Bardok note and Barrier Stone guide first.

The party follows tracks through a foggy northern area. Those tracks lead to an attacked research, scouting or travel site. The available source does not establish whether the object should formally be called a cart, convoy or research route, so this guide uses “attacked site.”

At the site:

  • inspect the marked evidence;
  • speak with the survivor;
  • finish any immediate securing step;
  • allow the objective to redirect toward the cultists and golem trail.

The survivor reports that Dragon Cultists are trying to wake or move a golem toward the fortress. That report establishes the pursuit direction. Do not return to the fortress merely because the tracks become less obvious in the fog.

Follow the cultist and golem trail

Continue along the active northern route. Ents, cultists or other groups can occupy portions of the path. Clear enemies that directly block movement or keep the party in an objective-linked combat state, then recheck the marker.

This is not a requirement to eliminate every enemy visible in the wider forest. Optional clearing can make the route slower and increase the chance of losing the story direction. The source supports progression through the trail, not a full-area purge.

Keep the current story objective selected. If a map activity or collectible marker replaces it, the fog can make the route appear more ambiguous than it is.

How to cross the blocked fog road

Eventually the apparent road ends at a physical obstruction while the objective remains beyond it. The continuation is vertical.

Use this route:

  1. stop at the blockage rather than traveling back down the road;
  2. inspect the cliff immediately beside the obstruction;
  3. find the ascent available in that adjacent area;
  4. climb to the upper path;
  5. continue across the elevated route above or around the blockage;
  6. drop back toward the cultist trail on the far side;
  7. resume the objective after landing.

The source text identifies a climbable cliff beside the obstruction. The associated image clearly supports the blocked-road state, but it does not provide a reliable left/right instruction or visibly marked handhold sequence. “Beside the obstruction” is therefore more accurate than claiming a specific side from an uncertain camera angle.

If the climb seems unavailable, verify that the attacked-site conversation and prior trail objective are complete, then recheck the cliff immediately beside the obstruction.

What to do when the golem has not moved

After crossing the obstruction and continuing inward, the party checks whether the golem has moved. The documented sequence finds no movement traces at that stage.

That absence is not a signal to return to the fortress. Continue searching farther inward. The objective subsequently redirects toward the original golem area and a Rock Tribe investigation.

Use these checks:

  • finish the inspection at the current marker;
  • wait for the “no movement” conclusion or equivalent objective update;
  • follow the new marker instead of retracing the entire fog road;
  • clear only enemies blocking the redirected route;
  • continue until the Rock Tribe phase becomes active.

The exact quest text is not preserved, so follow the functional state: the search continues and then changes into an investigation of the tribe’s preparations.

Complete every Rock Tribe investigation step

Reina’s knights draw the Orcs’ attention, allowing the party to enter the Rock Tribe position for information. The first enemy group is not the complete objective.

Use this checklist:

  1. enter while the distraction is active;
  2. clear the combat groups assigned to the infiltration route;
  3. inspect the prepared weapons or supplies identified by the objective;
  4. continue through the position rather than leaving after the first fight;
  5. defeat the high-ranking warrior blocking the escape route;
  6. finish the conversation or confirmation that explains what the Orcs are preparing.

The source does not preserve a reliable formal name for the high-ranking warrior. Avoid turning a descriptive enemy into a named boss without a current English nameplate.

If the objective remains after combat, search the marked infiltration area for the inspection step. Defeating enemies and examining the preparations are separate actions. Likewise, inspecting the supplies does not remove the warrior blocking the route out.

How to rescue Reina when the Lich is missing

A surviving apprentice describes the earlier ambush. The account includes charging Orcs, Skeleton ambushes, repeated resurrection and a Lich associated with the attack.

When the party reaches the recorded rescue phase, however, the Lich is not presented as a separate required target. The party follows the apprentice to a marked entrance, clears Orc and Skeleton pressure along the active route and reaches Reina. The source later indicates that the caster is no longer present.

The correct rescue procedure is:

  1. follow the apprentice to the marked entrance;
  2. clear enemies actively blocking the route;
  3. advance through the objective-controlled combat state;
  4. reach Reina;
  5. finish any dialogue or immediate combat attached to her position;
  6. follow the return order.

Do not broaden this into “the Lich never appears.” The available evidence supports only the narrower conclusion: a separate Lich hunt is not required in the documented rescue route.

If the marker does not advance, check for an active Skeleton or Orc group near the route to Reina before searching distant rooms for the missing caster.

Does rescuing Reina unlock her?

The route source establishes Reina’s story rescue and return to the fortress. It does not establish that this event unlocks her as a playable character.

Do not treat the rescue completion signal as an unlock guide. For her documented identity, combat discussion and build coverage, use the Reina build guide. That page owns Gear, Karma, teams and combo intent; this page owns only the Chapter 5 story route.

Return for the fortress defense

A fortress-attack warning follows the investigation and rescue. Once that warning becomes the active objective, stop optional northern exploration and return.

Reina leads the party between active defense positions. At each position:

  • follow the current marker;
  • finish the marked combat group;
  • wait for the next defense state to become active;
  • move only when Reina or the objective redirects the party;
  • continue until the defense reaches its immediate aftermath.

The source does not establish an exact wave count, fixed point order or named miniboss list. Do not use a guessed number of waves as the completion rule. The stronger signal is that each marked combat state finishes and the story moves into the aftermath.

Practical defense advice is not a scripted fact. Keeping enemies near the objective, preserving a high-damage rotation for larger threats and avoiding distant stragglers can help, but the mandatory rule is to complete the currently marked group.

Chapter 5 completion signal

Chapter 5’s focused route is complete when:

  • Reina has been reached and returns with the party;
  • the fortress warning has been answered;
  • the marked defense states are completed;
  • the sequence reaches its immediate aftermath;
  • the story begins moving toward the wider True Dragon crisis and Chapter 6.

Continue to the Chapter 6 mural door and Ropi route instead of recapping that puzzle here.

Chapter 5 troubleshooting

The fog-road marker is beyond a blocked path

Climb the cliff beside the obstruction, cross the upper route and drop back toward the objective trail.

I crossed the cliff but the golem did not move

Complete the inspection and continue farther inward. The “no movement” result redirects the investigation; it is not a return order.

The Rock Tribe objective remains after the first fight

Inspect the prepared weapons or supplies and defeat the warrior blocking the escape. The infiltration has multiple progression states.

Do I need to find the Lich?

No separate Lich hunt is required by the documented route. Clear the active Orc and Skeleton groups, follow the apprentice and reach Reina.

The fortress marker is not moving

Finish every enemy in the currently marked defense group and wait for the next state. Do not leave for another position before the active group completes.

Should I restart?

Check the current objective, unresolved combat, inspection steps and conversation state first. Restarting is not part of the normal route and should be a last resort after checking the current patch.

Evidence boundary

The primary released-game walkthrough supports the attacked northern route, survivor report, golem pursuit, blocked fog road, adjacent cliff and upper path, continued golem search, Rock Tribe infiltration, inspection of preparations, blocking warrior, apprentice account, Orc and Skeleton rescue route, missing-Lich interpretation, Reina return and fortress defense.

The sources do not preserve exact English quest titles, a formal name for the attacked object, the side of the road where the climb begins, a warrior name, map coordinates, enemy counts, fortress wave count, fixed defense-point order or a playable-Reina unlock. The blocked-road image proves the obstruction more clearly than the precise ascent. The rescue image provides context but does not independently prove every enemy label or route transition.

A Chapters 4–5 longplay was identified as a corroboration candidate, but playback could not be inspected because of a platform verification wall. No unsupported timestamps or visual directions from that video are used here.
