DragonSword Awakening Chapter 8: Ursula Final Boss & Ending

Updated 2026-07-28

Quick answer

The DragonSword Awakening Chapter 8 final boss is Lv.70 Ursula, but the operation begins before her transformation and continues after she leaves the first arena. Enter with one functional three-hero team, follow the Worm after it steals the Dragon Egg, return when the objective moves to the operation area, then chase Ursula after both retreats. The sequence ends only when Eona's Legacy delivers the finishing attack and the story completes the Orbis aftermath.

Full Chapter 8 and ending spoilers follow. If you are still progressing through an earlier chapter, use the Chapters 1–8 walkthrough and stop at your current section.

A changed objective is normally the next phase, not evidence that the previous plan failed.

Prepare one complete three-hero team

The boss display confirms Ursula's level, but it does not establish a requirement that all three heroes must be exactly Level 70. A more useful readiness check is whether the team can survive, rotate and recover.

Before committing, confirm:

  • the controlled hero survives a normal boss hit;
  • all three heroes have Gear and Karma equipped;
  • the lineup creates at least one dependable Signal Skill condition;
  • both partners can enter without dying immediately;
  • you have enough healing or defensive margin to learn a new pattern;
  • normal Level 60 Worm enemies do not survive several complete rotations.

Do not drain your Gold chasing one perfect reforge immediately before the operation. A complete 3+2 Gear structure and compatible Karma across the trio are more useful than one overbuilt hero with two unfinished partners. See the Gear and Karma guide and team rotation guide for preparation.

Dragon Egg and Worm pursuit route

The operation uses an adult Dragon and its egg to attract the True Dragon while other groups prepare a restraint, barrier and Eona's Legacy.

At the intact nest:

  1. let the operation distract the adult Dragon;
  2. wait for Kalien to draw it away;
  3. enter only after it leaves;
  4. take the egg;
  5. begin the return route.

A large Worm steals the egg. Follow it immediately through the rocky route and tunnel. Clear enemies that stop movement, but do not turn the pursuit into a full-area sweep.

When the objective points back to the surface or operation area, leave the Worm nest. The story no longer expects you to recover the original bait. Returning to the first Dragon nest or searching every chamber for another egg only delays the scripted operation.

Return to the trap when the plan changes

Kalien brings the adult Dragon into the operation despite the failed egg route. The restraint, Organa Order barrier and sleep effect continue as an improvised plan.

Stay with the active objective while Lute and Castella move toward the ancient device. Attack enemies that threaten the setup, but preserve one safe rotation and a defensive swap for Ursula's arrival.

The operation's failure states are narrative transitions:

  • the egg is lost;
  • the adult Dragon remains involved;
  • Ursula arrives before Eona's Legacy is ready;
  • the battle moves through multiple areas.

Following the current objective is more important than restoring the original plan.

How to beat Lv.70 Ursula

Ursula's large model and lightning pressure punish long commitments. Fight from slightly beside her center rather than directly underneath, so the camera remains readable and a lateral escape route stays open.

Use short rotations:

  1. apply the condition your team creates reliably;
  2. use the matching Signal input;
  3. stop when Ursula remains active through the hits;
  4. leave continuing ground effects;
  5. re-enter only after the arena is readable again.

Lightning telegraphs

When the ground warning develops slowly, walk or sprint away and preserve the dodge. Use the dodge or a character switch for the committed impact, not for every early visual cue.

A switch can cross one clearly timed hit, but its protected entry is brief. Move immediately after the incoming hero lands. Do not stand inside a persistent lightning field expecting the switch to protect the whole duration.

Close-range body pressure

Standing directly under Ursula can fill the screen and hide her next motion. Stay slightly to one side, move laterally when the body turns and punish after the movement finishes.

Super Armor and failed aerial extensions

If Ursula continues acting through your hits, end the long aerial route. Land, create distance and restart with shorter Active Skill windows. Continuing into Super Armor sacrifices the movement needed for the counterattack.

Status labels are not a permanent weakness chart

Shock, Poison, Ice and Air labels can appear during combat. Their presence can represent active conditions, combo information or Signal availability; it does not by itself prove that Ursula has four permanent elemental weaknesses. Keep using the condition your team can trigger consistently instead of rebuilding the entire roster during the final chapter.

Follow both Ursula retreats

After the transformed encounter, Ursula leaves the first combat area. Do not wait in the empty arena. Follow the relocated objective and re-engage when she stops in the next marked area.

She retreats a second time after the following encounter. That transition leads to the signal sequence and regrouping phase. Clear only enemies blocking the pursuit route, then let the allied groups catch up.

During the final coordinated fight, prioritize survival:

  • use the controlled hero's safest skills;
  • recover those skills with safe attacks;
  • create the team's real Break or Status condition;
  • use the matching Signal Skill;
  • leave before the next continuing hazard;
  • re-enter when the ground and camera are clear.

The operation is completed by Eona's Legacy, not by forcing one reckless final burst.

Lute's Dragon-like power and Eona's Legacy

Near the end of the battle, Lute displays power that the other characters identify as Dragon-like. The event is scripted; it is not shown as a form the player chooses to activate or reject.

Eona's Legacy then fires into the True Dragon. The sequence establishes that:

  • Ursula is defeated;
  • the ancient device supplies the finishing attack;
  • the allied operation kept the target in place long enough;
  • the main group does not know who activated the device.

The operator remains unresolved. A figure is associated with the device, and later dialogue creates suspicion, but the completed chapter does not prove the person's identity.

What happens after beating Ursula

Do not exit when the combat interface disappears. Continue through:

  1. finding Lute unconscious but alive;
  2. the battlefield aftermath;
  3. the return to Orbis;
  4. the royal ceremony;
  5. later conversations about Lute, Ropi and the unknown operator.

The ceremony reframes “Dragon Sword” as a title for the current generation protecting Orbis, rather than only the name of a literal weapon. The victory proves that the continent can coordinate knights, the Order, merchants, researchers and mercenaries against a True Dragon instead of waiting for the old Six Heroes.

Ending explained

The immediate True Dragon crisis is resolved, but three major mysteries remain open.

Ropi

Ropi is one of the Six Heroes and Lute's grandfather. Lute rejects the simple conclusion that Ropi merely betrayed his companions and intends to discover why he disappeared. The ending does not confirm Ropi as the final villain.

Who fired Eona's Legacy?

Chapter 8 does not identify the operator. The scene supports suspicion, not a final answer. Do not present Alboin, Ropi or a Dragon Cult member as confirmed without later evidence.

What is Lute's power?

The story confirms that Lute produced Dragon-like power. It does not explain the source, limit, permanence or whether he is literally a Dragon.

Does DragonSword Awakening have multiple endings?

The documented Chapter 1–8 route ends in one scripted main-story sequence. It contains no final dialogue choice, spare-or-kill decision, alternate Dragon Egg branch or choice to reject Lute's power.

That supports calling it the current main ending. It does not prove that no hidden condition, future update or expansion can add another ending.

Common Ursula problems

The Dragon Egg route looks failed

Follow the Worm. Leave the nest when the objective returns to the operation area.

Ursula disappeared

Follow the relocated marker; the battle moved.

Ursula retreated again

Continue to the signal and regrouping phase.

A switched character still took damage

The protected entry covers a short transition, not a continuing lightning field.

Ursula ignores the aerial combo

Stop extending into Super Armor and use shorter punish windows.

The fight ended but Chapter 8 did not

Finish the aftermath, Orbis return, ceremony and later conversations.

Evidence boundary

This guide is an original synthesis of a third-party completed Chapter 8 route and the site's released-build combat knowledge. Descriptive attack names are editorial labels, not official move names. Exact damage coefficients, guaranteed best teams, permanent weaknesses, hidden endings and the operator's identity remain unconfirmed.
