H2 2026 Roadmap: New Heroes
According to the Post-Launch Roadmap & Q&A stream recap, four new heroes are planned for the second half of 2026. These heroes are included in the full version and are not paid DLC.
- Ryza: The first hero to arrive post-launch. She is a shock-specialized character who throws her spear and teleports to its location for fast, stylish combat.
- Jerome: A knockdown specialist wielding a massive greatsword. He is prioritized after Ryza, as the current lineup lacks a dedicated knockdown specialist.
- Veronica: A bare-handed combatant who also uses a gun. Her primary attribute is Stun, offering a mix of ranged and melee combat.
- Logan: A tank-type character who attacks with a massive shield and protects allies. He is planned to be developed into a more versatile character before his debut.
System Updates: Hero Quests and Rift System
The roadmap includes two major system updates:
- Hero Quests: Story content exploring the untold stories of heroes not covered in the main story. The first quest is planned for Othello, followed by one related to Ryza.
- Rift System: Rifts appear across the world, allowing players to travel to other dimensions for combat. Further details will be shared as the system develops.
Quality-of-Life and Balance Improvements
Quality-of-life improvements are a top priority based on player feedback. The roadmap includes:
- Combat feel, gamepad support, and hit-feedback improvements.
- Reduced "floaty" jump feel, instant sprint/auto-run.
- Camera adjustments: free view, view distance, sensitivity options, and lock-on.
- UI hide/Photo Mode and help system.
The pre-release roadmap said some improvements were targeted for the launch build and that work would continue after release. Check current patch notes before treating any roadmap item as shipped. Balance adjustments will also be made to address any elements that consume excessive time or cause inconvenience.
Editions, DLC, and Business Model
DragonSword: Awakening is a premium single-purchase title with no microtransactions beyond DLC.
- Standard Edition: Priced at $29.99, includes the full base game.
- Current Steam structure: The base game is $29.99 in the checked US store, while the separate Deluxe Pack is $19.99 and contains the digital artbook, soundtrack and "Brave Baby Dragon" Familiar.
- Costume DLC: Five costumes are prepared for Ornette, Cerese, Theresia, Dana, and Kalsion, each with dedicated weapon costumes. Additional costumes, including swimsuits for Reina and Astria, will be provided via post-launch updates.
- Familiars: About 30 familiars are in-game, with two-thirds obtainable through gameplay. The remaining third are DLC, but in-game acquisition is sufficient for enjoyment.
A launch celebration offers the "Abyssal Direwolf" familiar DLC for free from July 23 to August 31, 2026.
