DragonSword: Awakening Cooking, Equipment & Familiars Guide

Updated 2026-07-24

Cooking & Gathering

The official Steam page describes Cooking as a system where you "combine ingredients found across the continent to create new dishes." This is part of the game's "everyday life" adventuring, alongside solving local residents' problems. Released-build guides now show Grilling, Boiling and Slice preparation methods plus practical stamina foods. Use the dedicated Cooking Recipes guide for the current recipe task; this page remains the broader systems overview.

Equipment

Equipment is an official game system, but the available official material does not specify slots, rarity, stat scaling, acquisition routes, upgrades, or crafting. The developer's AMA focuses on the premium package model and launch stability rather than explaining equipment. This page still lacks a reproducible equipment route, rarity table or upgrade test from the released build, so it does not recommend a best-gear path.

Familiars

Familiars are described on the official Steam page as "adorable collectible companions that aid you on your journey." The developer's pre-launch announcement (June 2026) states that roughly 30 Familiars exist across the base game and DLC plans. About two-thirds are obtainable through normal gameplay, and about one-third are planned as DLC. The Deluxe Edition includes a limited Familiar "Brave Baby Dragon," and all players can claim the "Abyssal Direwolf" Familiar DLC for free during the launch window (July 23 โ€“ August 31, 2026). The current source set still does not establish how every Familiar assists in combat or exploration; avoid assuming damage, healing or passive bonuses without a current description or test.

For demonstrated traversal progressionโ€”including shared stamina, underwater dash and climbing jumpโ€”use the Mounts guide. Those functions come from a third-party released-build walkthrough and are not automatically properties of every Familiar or DLC pack.

What Is Still Undocumented

The official material presents Cooking, Equipment, gathering, and Familiars as available systems, but it does not establish that they feed into one another. In particular, there is no sourced claim that dishes modify equipment, that Familiars are tamed with cooked items, or that a shared crafting economy connects all four systems.

Exact recipes, acquisition rates, equipment statistics, upgrade paths, Familiar abilities, and system interactions therefore remain undocumented in the current source set. A practical route requires reproducible released-build evidence rather than assumptions based on familiar RPG conventions.
