DragonSword Awakening Map Quests & Puzzle Guide
Updated 2026-07-24
Confirmed map activities
The released Steam achievement list confirms that exploration in DragonSword: Awakening includes more than travel points and treasure. Public achievements track:
- completing one Area Quest and completing all Area Quests;
- completing Sudden Missions ten times;
- named Hero Quests for Cerese, Dana, Ornette, Theresia and Kalien;
- a Platform Puzzle mini-game;
- a Slide Puzzle;
- a marmot betting activity;
- other named local character quests.
Use the map guide hub for the complete exploration cluster.
Area Quests
Two achievements establish the scope:
- Struck Up a Chat, Got a Job β completed an Area Quest.
- We Solve Anything β completed all Area Quests.
That means Area Quests form a finite completion set rather than an unlimited generic event label.
Practical route:
- activate the local Waypoint;
- speak to quest-giving characters and compare the objective with the current region;
- finish nearby objectives before teleporting to another branch;
- note any quest that appears blocked by story progress;
- revisit incomplete regions before attempting the all-Area-Quests completion target.
Public sources do not provide a complete Area Quest list or region-by-region unlock order.
Sudden Missions
The achievement May I Have Your Name? tracks completing Sudden Missions ten times. This confirms they are repeatable enough to accumulate multiple completions.
When one appears:
- read the objective immediately;
- check whether the target is timed or tied to a local encounter;
- prepare a functioning three-hero team using the combat system guide;
- do not assume every Sudden Mission has the same trigger, reward or recurrence rule.
Hero Quests and named characters
Public achievements confirm Hero Quests for:
| Hero | Achievement evidence |
|---|---|
| Cerese | Warmth for Frozen Wisdom |
| Dana | One Strawberry Flavor, as Ordered |
| Ornette | No One Will Know, Right? |
| Theresia | The End of the White Mistflower |
| Kalien | A Tale Carried on the Embers |
These achievements prove that the quests exist. They do not by themselves prove that completing a Hero Quest recruits the character.

Platform Puzzle
The achievement Hold On, Stand Right There says βSolved the Platform Puzzle mini-game.β
Safe preparation tips:
- identify moving or timed platforms before committing to a jump;
- check camera position and route height;
- separate the puzzle route from nearby combat pressure;
- use visible landmarks to document the start and finish;
- avoid claiming a universal solution without the exact puzzle location and current game version.
Slide Puzzle
The achievement Puzzle Solved by Pushing confirms a Slide Puzzle activity.
A useful solution record should show:
- the initial layout;
- the target state;
- each movement in order;
- whether the layout resets;
- the location, quest state and patch version.
The achievement name alone does not establish the board size or a universal move sequence.
When an objective appears blocked
Check these possibilities in order:
- the relevant story or Area Quest has not advanced;
- the objective is above or below your current elevation;
- a Dungeon Gate or interaction has not been activated;
- the task is a Hero Quest tied to a named character;
- the puzzle needs an environmental interaction rather than combat;
- the current patch may contain a progression issue.
Patch 1.0.2 included fixes for some quest-blocking and crash issues. Check the engine and patch guide before assuming a route description is universally wrong.
